Region: Assiniboine Provincial Park

Assiniboine Provincial Park is an isolated area in the southeast of British Columbia. This place is truly wonderful and no roads spoil the wilderness. This means that the only access to the shimmering lakes, sun-dappled alpine meadows, and the towering crown jewel of the park, Mount Assiniboine, is by hiking a lengthy distance or flying in a helicopter to the Assiniboine Lodge. Backpacking, hiking, and mountaineering are the main activities in park, with most people being concentrated into the core area around Lake Magog. Although this core area is fairly with developed, with plenty of cabins and a truly massive backcountry campground, may areas in the park are very much still untamed wilderness and can be accessed a short distance from Magog. Throughout the park, there will often be views of the famous, Mount Assiniboine, often the reason for which people visit the park. Seeing this mountain up close is a must, as it may be considered one of the most spectacular peaks in Canada or possibly even the world.

Most trips to the park will be backpacking, but there are many day trips from the main hub areas that can be seen below.
